Job Description

 

The Sr. Construction Manager will work closely with the Director of Real Estate and Facilities to ensure delivery of interior alternation projects across the US.  The Sr. Director of Construction will provide general supervision of construction-related projects and will oversee the Construction Project Managers.

 

  • Determine manpower requirements for a project and ensure that goals are met. 
  • Monitors contractors’ work for compliance with schedule, budget, quality, safety, and overall conformance with the contract documents
  • Setting targets, objectives and responsibilities for all supervised staff
  • Regularly review timings, budget, labor, risk and project plans to ensure work stays on track
  • Recommending policy and procedure improvements
  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality work within contract timescales and that contractual obligations are fulfilled
  • Dealing with contract disputes and mitigating the impact of any issues
  • Resolves field construction problems in coordination with engineering staff, third parties, and other agencies as necessary.
  • Attends progress meetings, develops status reports, and delivers presentations as required.
  • Assists in negotiating with contractors regarding changes to design, construction work scope, and schedules
  • Develops and implements a quality audit program, monitors contractor corrective actions, and ensures a quality project conforming to plans and specifications
  • Oversight of contractors, as well as internal and external construction project managers
  • Responsible to ensure design standards are maintained
  • Create and maintain project schedules and budget
  • Ensure FF&E is delivered in accordance with schedules
  • Travel to jobsites as required 
  • Approve A,M,E,P drawings for compliance with standards and to ensure smooth permitting process
  • Maintains continuous improvement process with plans being submitted to AHJ. 
  • Perform minor repairs as needed

 

  • Be able to follow through and provide quick and accurate resolutions
  • Be flexible with job duties as necessary and able to work independently with little supervision.
  • As part of the facilities team, during the event of an emergency situation or natural disaster, candidate must be willing to work before and after the event.
  • Should Cano trigger emergency response for natural disasters in South Florida, this position will lead a division of the emergency response plan.

 

Supervise project managers, vendors and contractors as directed.

 

  • BS/BA degree in Architecture, Building Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or (7+) years of field experience
  • PMP or an equivalent certification would be considered an asset
  • Extensive previous work experience managing budgets for construction projects

 

  • Excellent knowledge of construction materials and equipment
  • Highly organized
  • Previous experience in a leadership role with strong and proven leadership skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Previous work experience in construction management or another similar role
  • Understanding of construction management processes
  • Familiar with construction and project management software programs
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant rules and regulations as well as quality standards
