Description
The City of Buffalo is looking for talented workers to fill several seasonal positions. We are holding walk-in interviews March 11th and 25th at City Center 212 Central Ave Buffalo, MN 55313 from 3pm to 6pm.Please apply for the seasonal position you are interested in and you will be contacted via email to set up a time for your interview during the walk in interview sessions.
The Seasonal Construction Laborer will support the Electric Department in underground construction projects. Responsibilities include potholing, digging, operating equipment, staging materials, and site restoration.
Examples of Duties
Essential Functions
Operational Responsibilities
Assist in underground construction activities, including potholing and trenching.
Operate hand tools and light equipment safely and effectively.
Support equipment operators by staging materials and preparing work sites.
Restore construction sites to original condition after project completion.
Load and unload materials as needed.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent degree.
Class D Driver's license
One (1) year experience in operation of trucks and light equipment
One (1) year construction experience.
Preferred Qualifications
MN Class A CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements
Supplemental Information
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral
Ability to use light equipment, hand tools.
Ability to follow both written and oral instructions
Ability to use technology, ie. PC, Ipad, smart phone
Knowledge in Work, Excel software applications
Skilled in organizing, multitasking, and prioritizing work
Must be willing to work hands on in all areas of maintenance and repair regardless of department.
Promotes positive customer service relations through daily interactions with must be able to work well alone or with fellow employees, as in being a team player
Must be courteous and professional, as well as customer service oriented.
Knowledge of city operations, ordinances, and policies.
