Job Summary
This is a non-exempt position that reports directly to the Park Maintenance Foreman. This position performs maintenance for all aspects of Mozingo Lake Recreation Park including the RV park, tent camping, cabin rentals, group camp, playgrounds, information booth, visitors center, shelters, beach, boat ramps and docks, fish cleaning stations, bathrooms, trails, and general infrastructure, assuring for a clean and safe environment. The main responsibilities include facility and grounds maintenance, cleaning duties, and trash removal.
Essential Functions
Maintenance Activities
Maintains the overall park grounds as directed by the Park Maintenance Foreman.
Maintains areas included but not limited to: dam area, boat slips, boat ramps, beach, group camp, tent and RV camping areas.
Repairs, sands, scrapes, paints, or stains tables, benches, fences, signs, doors, windows, roofs, and small structures.
Installs and maintains landscaping. Mows grass, rakes trimmings, prunes and trims trees and shrubs. Uses a weed-eater around structures.
Operates, services, cleans, and makes minor repairs to grounds maintenance equipment, including sharpening and maintaining hand and power tools, mowers, tractors, and small equipment. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment.
Inspects assigned grounds, facilities, and other areas for needed maintenance, repairs, or cleaning.
Maintains the beach area to ensure trash and sharp objects are removed. Performs moss removal in the swimming area.
Collects and removes trash and debris from public areas. Empties fire pits in camping areas.
Cleans all shelter rental facilities following a check-out, assuring a clean and safe environment and positive public relations.
Maintains safe conditions on the walking trails, sidewalks, and parking surfaces.

Minimum Qualifications
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Driver's License
Class B-CDL.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D.; one to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D.; three to six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Items that this position has to lift include 90 pound bags of cement, 50 pound bag of fertilizer, 60 pound shingle bundles. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work is performed in laying cement, shoveling of wood chips, rock, and sand, push mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, and many types of vehicles and equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, direct sunlight. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock, dampness, dust, pollen, insect stings, and animals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Driving required between work sites in the park and city offices. This position may be on call during inclement weather. Duties are generally performed during normal weekday hours, with some weekend and holiday work required as needed. Overtime and call out required as needed.
This position is not eligible for benefits.
