Environmental Projects Construction Inspector - Cambria County, PA

The Environmental Projects Construction Inspector position with the Department of Environmental Protection offers an exciting chance to support important environmental projects. This position inspects construction, environmental, and mine reclamation projects to ensure compliance with permits, plans, and regulations. As an Environmental Projects Construction Inspector, you will perform the following duties:

• Site Inspections: Drive to project locations and assess construction activities, materials, and conditions
• Contract Compliance: Review plans, permits, and specifications to verify proper enforcement and adherence
• Material Decisions: Accept or reject materials and workmanship based on established requirements
• Erosion Control: Inspect erosion and sedimentation devices and ensure corrective actions are taken
• Documentation Work: Compile daily records, prepare reports, and submit estimates using electronic tools
• Complaint Investigations: Examine mine-related complaints and provide written findings and recommendations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. You will be expected to report to the Cambria District Office on an as-needed basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. • This is a field position that will cover project sites in the following Western PA counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Elk, Fayette, Indiana, Jefferson, Somerset, Washington and Westmoreland. 
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,827 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of construction inspection experience on heavy construction projects such as dams, flood control projects, mine reclamation projects, treatment plants, hazardous waste projects, airports, highways or utility installations; or
• An Associate Degree in Building Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or a closely related field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of  a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
