Job Summary

The Housing Custodial Department is looking to fill one (1) vacant position.

The Custodial Foreman supervises custodians who are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the public areas of academic and administrative buildings and medical facilities. Inspects work in accordance with cleaning standards and service requirements. Delivers and directs the use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies. Schedules and assigns duties and conducts training programs for new employees. Coordinates upcoming projects/events that require planning and coordination. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Overtime will be required as necessary. Facilities employees may be required to report at their regularly scheduled times during emergency closures or during inclement weather to perform essential functions including snow removal duties.

A background check is required.

  • Ability to train new personnel and coordinate the efforts of a work crew.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
  • Ability to perform simple clerical tasks with computers.
  • Inspects the work of other employees.
  • Be on call for emergencies such as flooding in buildings, snow removal, and blood-borne pathogens.
  • Ability to use floor care products and equipment.
  • Ability to perform light to heavy manual labor.
  • General custodial knowledge.
  • The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.

Required Qualifications
  • One (1) year of custodial experience
  • Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Two (2) years of custodial experience is preferred.

Salary
$15.00 an hour
