Opportunity – Region One Construction
UDOT is looking for the next
generation of construction leaders. This isn't just an inspection or material
testing job; it’s a lead role on the crew. We are looking for experienced
technicians ready to step into a mentorship and oversight position, acting as a
direct representative of the engineering staff in the field and material lab.
One of the open positions will focus on construction inspection. The other
position will focus on construction inspection but will include an emphasis
on material testing in the field lab as workload necessitates.
The Role: Lead, Inspect, Mentor
As a Construction TTIII, you are the
"go-to" for quality and documentation on the project site. You will:
- Lead the Crew: Functionally supervise staff, delegate daily
assignments, and provide critical input on performance and training.
- Technical Oversight: Manage materials testing (Concrete/SRDTT),
roadway inspections, and ensure traffic control is up to standard.
- Digital Management: Use ProjectWise, Masterworks, and
electronic field books to keep project accounting and pay estimates
accurate.
- Safety First: Actively detect and eliminate hazards to keep
your team and the public safe.
Qualifications & Eligibility
This position is designed for those
within the UDOT Transportation Technician career path.
- Primary Requirement: Current qualification as a UDOT
Transportation Technician III.
- Developmental Opportunity: This position may also be filled at
the TT II level for candidates who have completed 24+ months of on the job
experience and all Level I/II learning activities. Selected Level II
candidates must be able to complete their Level III specialty track,
leadership training, and “Train the Trainer" requirements within one
year of hire.
- Mandatory Certifications: All applicants must hold a Class A
CDL and have (or obtain within 12 months) CTT and SRDTT certifications.
- Response Time: Must live within 30 minutes of Region One.

Supplemental Information
- Snow Plan: You will be a key part of the Region One snow
removal team.
- Availability: Requires a standard 40-hour week, with varying
schedules that may include nights, weekends, and holidays. 24/7
availability for weather events, emergencies, and overtime as needed.
- Physicality: Expect to be on your feet, working around heavy
equipment, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
