Job Description

Position Purpose
A versatile position within a dynamic nonprofit that provides community-inspired, volunteer-powered disaster relief. The position is full-time and is responsible for leading groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers in construction projects in disaster-impacted communities.

Essential Functions
Lead teams of staff and volunteers in residential construction projects and offer skilled troubleshooting and technical advice on worksites.
Teach unskilled volunteers construction skills such as mold sanitation and interior rebuild.
Train unskilled volunteers how to safely use power tools (e.g., circular saw, impact driver, reciprocating saw, hammer drill, etc.) and ensure safety protocols are followed.
Ensure compliance with work scope and quality standards.
Communicate tasks and expectations clearly to team members, providing effective technical training and constructive feedback when necessary.
Maintain a clean, safe and organized work site.
Maintain records of work completed including tracking material usage, volunteer hours, and scopes performed.
Positively represent the organization on base, with homeowners and within the community
We have decided to relax the requirement for Covid-19 vaccination for on program staff. While we still strongly recommend Covid-19 vaccination, along with other standard and travel immunizations as recommended by the CDC and WHO, Covid-19 vacation will no longer be required

Position Requirements
Education High school diploma or equivalent required
Related Experience Previous experience with All Hands and Hearts preferred; experience working in a post-disaster environment preferred. 1+ years experience remodeling and rebuilding homes in the U.S.
Special Competencies/Certifications Must have a valid driver's license. Must have good written and oral communication skills. Confident in Google Workspace, particularly Google Docs and Google Sheets; and Microsoft Office. Needs to be well organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks. Strong leadership skills with a proactive approach to identify and solve problems. Able to manage a large workload and perform in a fast paced environment.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Constantly works in outdoor adverse weather conditions
Frequently moves items weighing up to 40 lbs on work site or on base
Frequently operates construction equipment (table saws, impact drivers, drills, and more)
Frequently operates computer
Frequently ascends/descends ladders and scaffolding
Must be able to remain in a stationary position
Frequent travel

Compensation & Benefits
Typical starting salary is $14 - $15 USD / hour, and up to $16 for highly qualified candidates who have previous experience in this role.
