Description

A Construction Estimator reviews project plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure alignment with scope and requirements, collaborating with teams to refine project management and maintain accurate cost projections. They facilitate key meetings, prepare proposals, and use software tools to enhance efficiency in subcontractor bids and project execution. Additionally, they build relationships with stakeholders and contribute to company initiatives, ensuring comprehensive scope and budget alignment for successful project delivery.

HOURS: Full-Time, Mon-Fri

WORK LOCATION: Minnetonka, MN

  • Review Project Plans and Specifications: Analyze blueprints, BIM models, and project documents to understand the scope and requirements.
  • Facilitate Meetings: Support meetings necessary for bid completion, including kick-offs, status updates, plan reviews, and final reviews.
  • Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with Project Coordinators, Project Managers, and other employees to refine estimates and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Coordinate with Suppliers and Subcontractors: Gather qualifications and bids from vendors and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost projections.
  • Prepare Bids: Develop detailed reports and bids for submission to clients and stakeholders.
  • Maintain Records: Keep detailed records of estimated and actual costs for future reference and analysis.
  • Use Software: Utilize platforms like SmartSheet, HubSpot, Sketchup, Bluebeam, or similar to enhance accuracy and efficiency in subcontractor bids.
  • Ensure Comprehensive Scope and Budget Alignment: Promote collaboration to ensure a complete understanding of the project scope, leading to thorough budgets.
  • Prepare and Present Proposals: Work with project teams to prepare and present proposals, ensuring they meet company and group margin goals.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with operations personnel, design partners, trade partners, and owners.
  • Participate in Group Initiatives: Actively engage in group and company initiatives, contributing to the advancement of team capabilities.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Estimating, Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in the construction industry.
  • Skills: Detail-oriented, ability to manage multiple tasks, familiarity with building and estimating techniques and software, ability to lead multiple projects, and strong communication skills. Thorough understanding of construction means and methods.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with BIM, cost history software, Microsoft suite, and estimation tools.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of construction law, business practices, and building systems.
  • Professional Attitude: Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service skills.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 40% for meetings, walks, and visits.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Some travel required

$70 - 80K
