Position Summary
The Construction Analyst is integral to our Underwriting Department, focusing on analyzing construction budgets, plans, and project feasibility to support the viability and compliance of construction projects. This role predominantly involves desk-based analysis (90%) complemented by essential field inspections (10%). The Construction Analyst collaborates with the valuation, underwriting, and processing teams to facilitate the approval and funding of construction loans. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of construction management and financial principles, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Interim Manager, this position plays a crucial role in ensuring the success and integrity of our construction financing operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Cost and Feasibility Analysis:
Conduct thorough desk-based analyses of construction budgets, project feasibility, and borrower execution capabilities for various construction projects, including standard renovations, extensive renovations, and luxury ground-up construction.
Evaluate plans, specifications, and permits to ensure all proposed projects align with financial and operational objectives.
Field Inspections:
Perform on-site inspections to verify project adherence to approved plans, quality of construction, and compliance with building codes and zoning laws.
Document findings through detailed reports and photographic evidence, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of each project.
Reporting and Communication:
Prepare detailed reports based on analyses and inspections, providing insights and recommendations to the underwriting team, valuations team, and processing team.
Ensure timely communication of any critical findings or potential risks identified during the desk-based review or field inspections.
Collaboration and Project Oversight:
Collaborate closely with the valuations team to assess property values and project viability accurately.
Work alongside the underwriting team and processing team to ensure smooth approval and funding of construction loans.
Regulatory Compliance and Best Practices:
Ensure all construction projects comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental standards.
Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes to maintain high standards of construction underwriting.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Real Estate, Finance, or a related field. Experience in the field in lieu of a degree is suitable.
3-5 years of experience in construction, or a related field, with a significant portion of this experience in desk-based analysis.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a focus on financial and project feasibility analysis.
Proficient in interpreting construction documents, budgets, and legal permits.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of producing detailed reports and presenting findings clearly.
Ability to work efficiently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality work and compliance.
Must have and maintain a current Driver's License and clean DMV record.
Reliable transportation for occasional local travel to project sites.
Work Environment:
This is a hybrid position which requires in-office reporting to Anchor's Thousand Oaks office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Remote work is optional Monday and Friday.
Compensation:
The base pay range for this position is $27-$32 an hour, plus annual discretionary bonus based on performance of the individual and company.
